Confused by coronavirus.

It is reasonable and understandable to say that the worldwide, unprecedented event has caught everyone by surprise…maybe not China. The speed it started, the pace it has spread and every country’s government is naturally struggling to get a handle on things.

With regard to the UK I am confused……

Early on they said that they expect up to 80% (55 to 58 million) of us in the UK to get covid19 but presumably some of us will get it many months further down the line when we are allowed out again? I am envisaging criteria perhaps May/ June or July when the schools and first batch of furloughed workers may be allowed to return to work; with the knowing view that this will bring about new daily cases of infections and deaths. Controlling to some extent and keeping within NHS capacities.

Then perhaps a second release of workers out a month afterwards, depending on what has happened and if a new surge happens; and so forth.

I guess the end stages could be mass gatherings again of ‘leisure, sport, cafés, concerts near the last to return (?). Then finally the over 70’s leave their homes…maybe around October time. This will line up at exactly the same time as the NHS prepares for the traditional flu burden over winter. Is this wise?

I’m guessing the logical conclusion is that the virus and these deaths will now be a daily occurrence the rest of the year not just the upcoming weeks but hopefully in far less alarming numbers. Presumably the virus will eventually just die out like they all do, with no hosts less to infect either through deaths, social distancing or a vaccine?

Another confusion for me is I was surprised to discover that around 1,600 people on average die every day generally in the UK. So I now wonder if these daily death numbers get announced….are these additional hundreds or are many them the ones that would have been dying anyway but are then attributed to coronavirus on the day.

I have been wondering just what is the World Bank? Why can’t the debt covid-19 has been responsible for in each country be written off by them and deducted from China’s economy? Financial advisors the world over are now telling us 10% to 25% has been lost off savings, investments and pensions…this has made many have to re-look at their lives, their future plans for finishing work and having to stay at work perhaps YEARS longer than expected to fill in the losses it’s caused.

My final curiosity is just why certain journalists /presenters are trying to ‘politicise’ covid-19. No country or government was prepared so they have all been scrambling to catch-up. The whole world is after chemicals for testing vaccines, every country is after PPE and they are all using interpretations on lockdown and trying to second guess the NEW disease for exit strategies. No country’s individual government should be questioned at this early stage…..
